World fauna or animals in Indonesia is classified into three
groups based on grouping by Alfred Russel Wallace and Max Wilhelm Carl Weber.
In summary three groups of fauna in Indonesia is sa follows:
1.Fauna Asiatis type, occupies the
western part of Indonesia to Makassar Strait and the Strait of Lombok. In this
area there are various types of large mammals such as elephants, tigers,
rhinos, bears, orang utan.
2.Fauna type Australis, occupies
the eastern part of Indonesia, including Papua and surrounding islands. In this
area there are types of animals such as kangaroos, cassowary, bird of paradise,
cockatoos.
3.Fauna transition and original,
located in the central part of Indonesia, including Sulawesi and Nusa Tenggara.
In this area there are types of animals such as monkeys, possum, hog deer,
dwarf buffalo and Maleo.
Each province in Indonesia has fauna that reflect the
identity of biological diversity in the region. Fauna selection was based on
the grounds that the fauna is endemic in certain provinces, typical of a
particular province or a particular province mainstay commodity. At the
national level, Indonesia has three identity fauna, namely:
* Park as a national animal.
* Siluk red as wildlife and charm.
* Javanese eagle as an endangered species.
